Why can't my Mac read a CD-R that has photos in it?

Does it show up in Disk Utility?

At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, then click on More Info, then click on Hardware>Disc Burning & report what it says, like ...

Depends on where they came from.   I understand some CD-Rs created on Windows cannot be read on a Mac.
