Why do I have to type in my wifi password each time to turn on AirPlay?
Anyone have suggestions?

Because in your AIRPLAY settings on the ATV menu, you currently have it set to require a password.
So that requires me to put in my home wifi password on the AppleTV itself? Shouldn't that be for devices that are trying to connect to AirPlay, not the appletv device itself?
Sorry, I may have misread that. Because there is an option to turn on passwords for airplay on the ATV.
Can you tell us where and on what is giving you the WiFi prompt? You NEED to have the ATV on the same wifi nextwork as the divice you are trying to airplay from.
Welcome to the Apple community.
This is probably because your router is continually dishing out different addresses to the Apple TV.
So there is no prompt to enter in the wifi password. What's happening is the AppleTV icon is not visible on any of my devices, and the only fix I can seem to find is reconfiguring my wifi connection and then the icon appears. Really strange and makes it rather inconvenient to redo the wifi each time. I'm hoping there's a setting I'm missing somewhere. The devices I'm using are new iPad and a couple iPhone 4s'. All have the most recent updates for ios as well.
Thanks so much for your assistance!
Mr. Churchill: Is this a common issue with ATV? No other devices that connect to my home wifi have this issue.
It isn't an issue with Apple TV, it's an issue with your network. If it isn't your router that keeps dishing out different IP's that is causing the problem, then it may well be that you are suffering from interference on your network.
What kind of router are we talking about here? If it's an express, do you have more than 10 devices?
