Unfortunately, unless iOS devices can run iOS 5 they cannot run iCloud.
iCloud requires iOS 5 which you can not get on a 2nd generation iPod touch. iOS 5 requires a 3rd or 4th generation iPod touch. The latest iOS for 2nd gen is 4.2.1. Your device can not get iCloud.
iCloud is nothing more than standard services (IMAP & CalDAV) packaged to make it drop dead simple to configure your device.
Following the step by step process in the link I provided above gives you the same functionality with your standard iCloud account. You can access your iCloud e-mails, you can access your iCloud contacts, you can access your iCloud Calendars. You cannot access your iCloud documents, as said in the post.
I set up my 2nd gen iPod Touch this way - works fine.
Are you able to connect music from your ipod touch to iCloud? I am trying to set up iCloud on my ipod touch but it's running 4.2.1. I tried following the instructions in the link above that you provided but my ipod doesn't follow that exact structure (it would seem). Do you know if there is a way?
