Where are the imported photos stored? They aren't in My Pictures...

Hi!

I've imported a few photos from a camera, all went smooth, got the green tick on all the selected ones, answered the Q. re: keep or delete from importing device (camera), chose keep, disconected device...attempted to look at photos on iPad in "Camera Roll" but could not find the new imported photos, or any other photo folder.

Any ideas what I'm missing?
