Can I disable the Apple Remote for iTunes only?

For years, I have been using the Apple Remote, via the "Sofa Control" application, to control my mac, mostly to watch EyeTV.

Since updating Lion to 10.7.4, every time I hit the play button, iTunes also gets it and starts to play, or pauses (the appropriate action by EyeTV also occurs).

I realize that a proper fix will need a patch to Sofa Control, but since I NEVER use the Apple Remote to control iTunes anyway, I could work around this problem if I could set iTunes to ignore the remote altogether. Is there a way to do it? (I am thinking some 'defaults' command at the Terminal...)
