iPhone 4 bluetooth problems

I have always had problems using bluetooth earpieces with my iphone 4, even after I install OS5. Works good for phone calls, but continually cuts in and out when listening to books or music. Does anyone have this same problem and/or a solution? This happens no matter what bluetooth device I use. I have tried several bluetooth earpiece devices, so it doesn't appear to be the bluetooth device.
