Why do not all downloaded tracks play?

Just purchased an album with 47 tracks and downloaded to my laptop but at least 5 tracks do not play. The faulty tracks seem normal and the files have the same properties as other tracks which do play. Two of the faulty tracks do not play at all, two play for 3-4 seconds and one plays for about a 3 minutes (track is 11:31 long). Haven't tried to play all 47 tracks yet, but at least 16 tracks are fine.

That is usually the result of a downloading problem. You can download fresh copies (at no charge) by following this guide: iTunes 10 for Windows: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store

In the unlikely event that the new copy has the same problem, it could be a defect in the store master file. If that happens, you cannot correct it yourself, so report it toiTunes Customer Service.

Thanks ed2345, but my problem is not solved. iTunes Store says all 47 have been downloaded so I cannot download again. This agrees with what I see with Windows Explorer, all the files look the same, the faulty tracks are full size files.

Having now played most of the purchased album, the number of faulty tracks is now 6, the number of good tracks about 34.

Ed,

Still not solved. I have removed the six tracks from my iTunes folder to my desktop. When I open iTunes these tracks are still listed in my iTunes library. If I try to play these tracks they do not play, of course, but a message tells me the original file has been moved. If I the open iTunes Store, select Purchased and the album with the defective tracks, all 47 tracks are marked as downloaded and I cannot download any tracks again.

I have deleted one of the 6 defective tracks from my iTunes library, but it still says downloaded against this track in iTunes store.

I'm very new to iTunes, am I doing something really stupid?

Why do not all downloaded tracks play?
