I only want to buy Logic for those instruments (and the others) and it sounds like I can get them for GB for much cheaper if it works the same way as the Jam Packs.
Is this how it is??

No you can't. When you DL Mainstage you get predefined Garageband instruments (and loops) that show up in your GB browser. You do not get the ability to load an instance of EXS or ES2 into a track in your GB project. 🙂
If I download MainStage 2 and its additional content, can I use the instruments such as the EXS24 Sampler and the ES2 synth in GarageBand?
