It depends on how you made the change. To keep ownerships of your existing files aligned and correct I would use the following method.

That should work perfectly well, provided you followed every step to the letter, including the ones in the linked articles for enabling the Root user.

Can you give us a screenshot of the permissions area from the Get Info window of one of the files?

Yes it is certainly quite complicated, and as I have not done anything like that, I feel unqualified to offer any guidance.

Perhaps take it to a technician along with the printed discussion which will give an understanding of the problem and the steps needed for recification.

I had a very similar issue when I first migrated everything from my G5 to my Intel using Setup Assistant. Had deleted the 501 on the G5, but when migrated, all the 501 showed up as unknown (502 was my user.) Anon, who is brilliant, was able to quickly resolve the problem using a command (similar, but not identical to the one you linked) to move all the 501 to 502.

But still hasn't registered.
