Jul 11, 2012 9:11 PM in response to peterpanxby roam,It depends on how you made the change. To keep ownerships of your existing files aligned and correct I would use the following method.

Jul 12, 2012 1:25 PM in response to peterpanxby noondaywitch,That should work perfectly well, provided you followed every step to the letter, including the ones in the linked articles for enabling the Root user.
Can you give us a screenshot of the permissions area from the Get Info window of one of the files?
< Use cmd+shift+4 to create the screenshot - the cursor will turn to a crosshair; just drag a box around the required area and it will save to the desktop when you release the mouse >
< Use the camera icon in the Reply window to browse to the file and then click insert >

Jul 16, 2012 3:36 PM in response to roamby peterpanx,is very difficult to me to understand the issue and the solution of the specific post...

Jul 17, 2012 2:19 AM in response to peterpanxby roam,Yes it is certainly quite complicated, and as I have not done anything like that, I feel unqualified to offer any guidance.
Perhaps take it to a technician along with the printed discussion which will give an understanding of the problem and the steps needed for recification.

Jul 21, 2012 5:15 PM in response to peterpanxby WZZZ,Register and post your question here. There are some folks who I'm quite certain will be able to help. Give it time for a response, though, as it's a small board.

Jul 22, 2012 4:53 AM in response to roamby WZZZ,I had a very similar issue when I first migrated everything from my G5 to my Intel using Setup Assistant. Had deleted the 501 on the G5, but when migrated, all the 501 showed up as unknown (502 was my user.) Anon, who is brilliant, was able to quickly resolve the problem using a command (similar, but not identical to the one you linked) to move all the 501 to 502.
But still hasn't registered.
