Looking for advice on purchasing an inexpensive -- maybe refurbished -- Mac for the primary purpose of developing iPad apps...
What is the cheapest version that would be adequate?

Anything from the refurbished Mac section in the Apple Store that is capable of running Lion - a Mac mini with the largest screen, fastest hd and max ram.
If the stock of refurb'd minis is down, a new one is still a tremendous bargain.
LCDs it will support and 3rd party ram are dirt cheap right now...
