Q: Why can you not download from iPad to card reader?

Just purchased an apple iPad card reader. Why can you not download from iPad to card reader? And Why card reader does not work with iPhone???

Because they are not designed to do so.

Apple's camera connection kit can only import pics & videos. It can't be used to export any type of file.

cause that's how apple set it up and they're rather well known for not sharing their rationale.
