Safari can't open the page

Is your Internet connection up and running? Is your Mac connected?

Has the Mac currently having the problem ever been able to access the Internet?

OK, and you said it happens on both browsers? Hold on while I look up the error code, I'll get right back to you.

Try this: Open HD/Applications/Utilities/Network Utility/Ping and type in 17.112.152.32 (Apple) and click Ping. If you don't get a response back off that try entering your router address in instead of Apple's one and ping that. Report back and we will see where we can go from there.

Are you running Lion?

Try quitting Safari, then trashing Safari's preferences. Those preferences are located in this directory:

Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist.

Then launch Safari and see if things work as they should. If not, try resetting Safari. With Safari open click the Safari menu heading and select Reset Safari..., check all of the boxes then click the Reset button. Restart the computer and see if Safari runs smoothly then.

If it doesn't, I would download Safari again, throw away the current Safari and reinstall it. You can get it here:
