hi,

i searched the forums but no real info or solution about this.

before i had no such problem, it all began 3 weeks ago and without any reason i can think of.

Machine: Mac pro 12Gb ram, disk free space 80Gb. lion all updates done.

what happens is sometimes osx pops up a force quit window repeatedly.

i managed to find possible reason: 59GB of swap files ?!

always had large swap files and a 1-1 size for the sleepimage/RAM amount

but this is absurd.. 62 swapfiles og 1GB ?! seriously,

how do i clear that up? avoid it to happen again? (except from buying additional HD ... lol)

thnx for advices.

ame235.

Reboot the system. That will wipe all that out and start fresh. Do this on a regular basis.

  • ame235 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Already rebooted. this is a temporal solution.

this is absolutely no real solution.

on top of that, i cannot reboot a system on a daily basis: this is absurd.

systems are meant to be online not offline.

helping would be: why this happens?

    how to avoid it.

I mean, treating symptoms does not cure desease, does it?

You have either some typ of OS corruption or you are running to many Apps at the same time or you do not have enough RAM for the Apps you are running.

First place to start is Activity Monitor and see what is eating RAM and causing the excessive swap files.

    I really apreciate your help,

ialso tried that but activity monitor didn't reveal anything at that time. Apps using memory, nothing special none using that much ram.

i rebooted in the meantime, so i cannot check it again.

will wait for problem to happen again and check back at that time.
