Songs previously listed in iTunes Plus as available for upgrade are no longer there. I have upgraded songs in the past and had about 25 left in the iTunes Plus list. They are all gone. Has this happened to anyone else?

Mickey,

My list has also gone empty. However, I have not seen any announcement about it, so cannot say whether this is temporary or whether the upgrade program has ended.

You may wish to burn any remaining DRM-encumbered tracks to an audio CD, so that you will have a backup copy that can be played without authorization.

I sent an email to Apple Support but their response indicated that they didn't understand my problem. They thought I was missing already purchased songs from my iTunes library. I sent another email to further clarify but haven't received a response yet. It helps to know that others are having the same problem. Thanks for that. I have burned many of my DRM-embedded songs to CD and have all my music backed up so I won't be losing anything.

I am seeing similar behavior, and also contacted iTunes support. Like you, they didn't understand my problem (they thought that I was confused because the store no longer provides the option of buying protected or unprotected content). I've responded and tried to clarify what the issue is, but I haven't received a response back yet.

My suspicion is that this is a bug with the iTunes Music Store and first-line support isn't yet empowered to acknowledge that. But I'm just guessing.

I also had a couple hundred individual tracks that were previously eligible for upgrading. I've been upgrading them one-by-one as the need arose... I think the last time I did so was a couple months back. Now my iTunes Plus upgrade page only lists the entire albums that I've purchased from iTMS. All my individual "protected AAC" tracks are no longer listed. This is by far the majority of the music that I purchased prior to 2009, when the whole store when DRM-free.

I'm hoping that this is just a bug that can be fixed on the store side. I'm glad to finally see some folks posting about this problem -- at least I'm not alone in this!

Something else that I just noticed: on the iTMS home page, my "iTunes Plus" link has a little badge to the right with a "7" in it. That's the number of complete albums that I have purchased that are DRM-protected and elibible for upgrade.

That's a little disturbing... if this isn't a bug (which I'm hoping for), then maybe Apple has changed the policy so that you can't upgrade the individual songs you've purchased, only whole albums. If so, that stinks.

That is my concern as well. The only things that are available for me are one music video and one EP from an indie band that I don't wish to upgrade since I deleted the album. It seems that the page was re-designed, but they forgot to put in the code listing what tracks you could upgrade. I do NOT feel like spending QUADRUPLE what I was originally intending to spend to upgrade.

Somebody mentioned iTunes Match upgrading music? I honestly tried iTunes in the iCloud thinking I could backdoor my way into doing it, but it downloaded the DRM-protected version of a song.

This problem has happend to me as well. Just as early as last week, I had 7 albums as well as about 181 individual songs that I was going to upgrade with iTunes plus. As of checking in iTunes last night, the only option I had to upgrade were the entire ablums, the individual songs had disappeared. Since this is clearly not an isolated incident, I think it would behoove Apple to either do some investigating or offer an explanation as to why this has occurred.

If it's a change in policy, shame on Apple. If it's a glitch and they can't understand what the problem is, they need to address qualifications for hiring support personnel because I read the problems stated clearly and I'm currently experiencing the same problem.

I'd hate to know that I missed out on this opportunity by a week! I use SD cars for the MMI system in my Audi so that I don't have to plug my iPhone into the AMI interface in the glovebox. Real pain in the rear having DMR protected songs that can't be played.

This is obviously a widespread problem. I currently have Apple support working on it and I've told them that there are many others who have lost their iTunes Plus upgrades as well. When the original tech support person failed to understand the problem I was referred to someone higher up. At least now they know about it and they're looking into it. When (and if) I get some positive results I'll post it here.

Well it would appear persistence has paid off. I got a reply from Susan who said that the Engineering Dept checked my account, and advised that they will be updating iTunes Plus eligibility in the next few weeks. Now I am unable to access the iTunes Plus page so I'm hoping that means they are doing something with it. More information as it becomes available...

I also was in contact with iTunes tech support and I'm happy to report that my iTunes Plus list was restored yesterday so persistence does pay off. I asked if they could solve this globally since there are apparently so many of us having the same problem but they told me that so far it has to be on a case by case basis. So I encourage all who have had their iTunes Plus songs disappear to bug tech support until you get them back. Since they are aware of the problem now maybe they will eventually come up with a solution for everyone if enough of us complain.

Songs previously listed in iTunes Plus available for upgrade are no longer there. Has this happened to anyone else?
