The attempt should be very easy to successfully accomplish.  To connect a USB device to your Mac, simply plug it into your Mac's USB port.

I don't understand what advice you need about doing that.  Plug it in, turn it on, and see if it works.

If you need help with operating your SDP-850DX, download instructions and manuals from Samsung or contact them or your retailer for help.

If you need to post back here, please provide detailed responses to the first four of the following items.

    (1) If your SDP-850DX does not work with your Mac's software app, please explain your problem in more detail.

    (2) Also please test your SDP-850DX with some Apple apps that can use a camera (examples, iChat, iMovie HD, etc.)

To avoid possible "Your camera is in use by another application" errors, test only one software application at a time.

Tell us which Apple apps you tested that work and which, if any, do not.

    (3) If at least some Apple apps work but Skype does not, see the suggestions here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread/3954670

Confirm that you have installed the latest versions of your OS X and the Skype software compatible with your OS.

Also, describe your results from each Skype suggestion you unsuccessfully tried.

    (4) Your posted Products show that you are using Mac OS X (10.4.9). Confirm that this is the same system you are using when you encounter the problem.

    (5) We will offer more specific suggestions based on the details in your responses to items (1) - (4) above as well as any other new information you can offer.
