text box has a black background (Google SketchUp)

Google SketchUp uses a Safari web dialog window for the Dynamic Components feature. After installing the update that was pushed out around May 14-ish, the text boxes in the web dialogs have a black background, making them essentially unusable. There is text in the text boxes, but it's black too. Any ideas about this?

Peter ...

There are two libraries..

One is root denoted by: /Library

The other is your user account denoted by: ~/Library (Tilde) character represents your Home folder

Open the Finder.

From the menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder

Typs this in exactly as you see it here: ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db

Click Go

The move the Cache.db file to the Trash.

Quit then relaunch Safari to test.

Thanks again Carolyn, with your help I found that and deleted it. Still the same issue in SketchUp. I know that there are several SketchUp users now reporting the same issue, and they all seemed to start over the last few days. SketchUp didn't release any updates, the only change has been on the operating system/browser side. But it looks like it might be a somewhat arcane bug.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions. Much appreciated.

Did that, twice just to be sure. Still the same.

The Safari web dialog used in SketchUp is customized in some ways, eg the chrome is stripped off. But underneath the hood it's Safari. I wonder whether there is a customization to the chrome that SketchUp did and didn't show up until Safari was updated. Or something like that...

I'm attaching a screengrab of the web dialog just to make sure you're understanding what I mean.

Thanks again!User uploaded file

LOL, I wish! Chrome's my main browser. Safari is the only web dialog alternative in SketchUp on the Mac, just as IE is the only alternative for SketchUp on Windows. They had to go with the native browser in each case. It's an edge case that I think the SketchUp folks are going to have to solve. Painful.

Your help has been greatly appreciated Carolyn.

I have the same problem using a program called Quosa (a liteature searching program). Quosa uses Safari on a mac as a web browser.

When going to PUBMED in quosa, single citation, the text boxes are black.

BUT, if I use Safari itself, the boxes are white.

This started with the latest update Version 5.1.7 (6534.57.2)

Quosa indicated that they are waiting for an Apple update to solve the problem.
