my ipod 6 gen nano show a slot and a speaker. it won't play.
My Nano stopped playing back an audio book. It displays a slot and a speaker icon. Now it just jiggles, under the slot picture. It is charged.

Could you perhaps provide a picture of what you are seeing exactly? I haven't heard of such a thing before...
Maybe try a hard reset? To do this, press the volume down and sleep/wake buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
