How to export a quicktime movie in Final Cut Express?

I just bought Final Cut Express and I am trying to export a 3 minute movie as a quicktime file. Everything works out fine until the dialog box gets to 100%. It says "writing audio and video" and then just stops with no "estimate time" listed. Why is this happening!?

Also, I have worked with Final Cut Pro, Final Cut X, and Final Cut Express 4 all on my computer and I know how exporting works so as far as I can guess it is not human error. The video was imported from iMovie where I captured all the clips so they are .dv files.
