Will ipod get charged while connected to a car's USB port?

My car (a 2012 Toyota Prius) supports playing the iPod through its included USB port. Will the iPod get charged while connected?

Plug it in and see. If the usb port in the car supplies enough current it will charge the iPod, if not enough current it won't.

Probably, it seems most in-car USB connections provide enough juice to keep devices charged.

I have a 2008 Scion, the iPod connection (though a proprietary connection, not USB) does keep the device charged.

Check the owner's manual for the car in question to be sure.

Embarassed and surprised. The owner's manual actually said it had an iPod charging function.
