Ok aqua, I'll replace the battery , but the computer is now working a lot better, been on for a few hour now no freezing. Was doing update and it blanked out a few times, but I touch the mouse i hear the fan spin and I comes back and never stopped downloading the whole time, but after update is when it normalized a bit. The only problem is when I attach my iPhone the computer completely freezes and must be turned off, anyone have any suggestions? Is this some kind of short? If so where?

How & what port are you connecting the iPhone to?

Does it ever have problems without the iPhone?

Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

Also, open console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem for clues.

Along with having the proper OS X, iTunes, Safari and Quicktime versions, you should also have USB 2.0.

OS X 10.5.8, iTunes 10.5x, Safari 4.0.3 or later and Quicktime 7.6.4

If you don't have a USB 2.0 PCI card installed in your machine, get one with the NEC chipset.

One like this is fine.

If you are trying to use the iPhone with USB 1.1, then you are going to have problems.

I'm running osx 10.5.x latest iTunes also not sure about USB but I have always synced

MY other iPhones with no problem , safari and quick time should be up to date installed all latest versions of everything that was available as soon as I replaced power supply, after the update the computer was working well, except for this freeze when ever I connect iPhone. Should I check the memory cards themselves? Reseat them?

Yes.

Memtest X or Rember to test the RAM.

Reseat is also good.

The iPhone 4 doesn't like USB 1.1 much.

after the update the computer was working well, except for this freeze when ever I connect iPhone.

I'd try USB 2.0 PCI. That's how I connect my iPhone 4s, and have connected all iPhones and iPods, to my G4.

Never an issue.

Can't say the same for USB 1.1.......

The above (previous post) linked PCI card is cheap enough.

Want cheaper, try this:

The NEC chipset is the desired chipset, regardless of what OS the maker says is compatible.

OS X has native NEC chipset USB support.
