Gracenote no longer has CD info when I try to re-import.
Hello, All.
Over the past two years I gradually imported my 300+ CD collection into iTunes using 256 VBR. At that time, only about two of my CDs were not recognized by Gracenote. For various reasons I recently decided to do it all over again using Apple Lossless encoding, and just finished. This time around, about a dozen CDs-- that were found on Gracenote last time-- were not recognized at all. These are all classical, FWIW. So I have two basic questions/issues.
First, is it normal for Gracenote to lose info, or is it processing data from the same CDs differently so it's no longer recognizing them?
Second, since I do have the correct info from my last import, is there any way to copy or "clone" the info from the old fields to the new import (other than manually)?
If I'm not clear, here's a case in point: I imported a 2-CD set of Bach's St. John Passion in May of 2010. The info that was retrieved is in the attached image:
When I now try to import the same CD I get the following alert dialog (furthermore, the CD just mounts as "Audio CD").
When I inserted 99% of my other CDs they were recognized and I was prompted to replace the existing songs, which was fine as it maintained all the info. Admittedly, I can either live with the 256 VBR versions OR enter everything manually, but I'm thinking there must be an easier way. Plus I'm really curious as to what's going on. So I'm hoping one of you experts out there might give me an assist.
Thanks in advance!
