Issue accessing Windows Web Server using Bonjour in Safari

If I publish a web page using the "_http._tcp" type and specify a path in the Txt record, why is it that Safari cannot access the web url? Safari seems unable to browse to a Windows Web Site whose domain name ends with a "."

For example, when Bonjour is enabled in Safari and I select my Bonjour entry from the list of discovered entries, it tries to access my Windows web page at:

http://servername.local./path (and results in a Bad Request)

however, if I remove the "." after the "local" domain it works in Windows?

Is this a bug? How can you program around this?

Thanks
