Hardware problem with fan

My Late 2006 Macbook has a hardware issue where the Fan is running at full rpm. It stays way cool but it is still annoying. Is there anyway to fix this? I ran hardware check and it gave me an error code but I don't know how I can get what the meaning of the code means.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

I was going to suggest you reset your SMC, which can sometimes fix a fan gone crazy. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

However, if the hardware test found a problem, perhaps with a sensor, that's a different thought. You can still reset the SMC, however, please post the entire error message with all the letters and numbers. Someone can probably tell you what it means.

Actually It had been running at this RPM before I got SMC. lately my OS got corrupted and i couldnt recover it. I had to wait a while to get it reinstalled. Not im back and i dont have SMC and its running its usual high RPM. I'm wondering if there is some way I can fix a sensor or whatever it cant be a heat or RPM sensor bec SMC got all that information.

OK now i see what you mean i thought you ment SMC fan control whitch is a program for showing your fan speed and temp. ill look into this

Ok I looked into your link and yes I have already done this many times. I'm also now suffering from my magsafe charger not charging my bettery but my laptop is being powered by it. I have used a griends magsafe charger that works and it still rejects a charge so i dont beleive its my charger. I'm wondering if it may be something else. I have heard something about a battery update. My laptop wont launch the program though even though im running lion.

I noticed I'm not getting any information from my charger could it be that the charger is bad? I may have to borow my friends when he/she gets back so I can see if it works again if forgot to do a hardware reset when he/she was around.
