Am backing up to icloud. How add a movie?

Hi all,

As the title states, I am backing up to icloud and not my computer. So, I have a bunch of apps that are on my ipad and in icloud that are not on my computer.

Thing is I want to add a movie (non-itunes). I have added the movie to my itunes libarary. When I connect my ipad to my computer, I can add the movie to my ipad easy enough - however when I actually try sync, you can see the green apps indicator (Capacity graph) drop from about 10.2 gigs to 4 gigs. I cancel at this point. Presumably, since the apps are not on my computer and I am not backing up to computer, itunes wants to remove the apps from the ipad.

Any way around this? Just want to add a movie and keep backing up to icloud.

Have you ever synced your iPad to your iTunes account? If you have not, you should as it always good to have iTunes and your iPad communicate. It's often easier to manage apps, music, photos, etc. via iTunes sync, even if you back up to the cloud. Since I'm guessing the answer is no, you have not synced your iPad with iTunes, you need to transfer your purchases to your iTunes library on your computer.

1. Go into iTunes and Click on Edit, then Preferences

2. Click on Devices

3. Choose to not have your iPad, iPod or iPhone automatically sync when connected to iTunes (this one is important

4. Connect your iPad to your computer via USB

5. Once it's recognized on the left side right click your device

6. Select Transfer Purchases (this is the key step)

Once you've transfered purchases, your apps will be in iTunes and they won't be deleted via iTunes sync.

Thanks. I suspect that would do it. I did use to sync via wifi, but then I started getting errors about not being able to connect with ipad (or some such - it has been awhile) so I just disabled.

Would just rather not take up another 6gigs of space on my hard drive just so I can add a couple movies for the long weekend.

Will give it some thought.

Thanks.
