Q: Logic Studio 2 installer freezes when upgrade license code entered on new MBP. Help?

In attempting to install Logic 9 from a Logic Studio 2 upgrade disc the installer freezes, SBD, when I enter the code that came with the upgrade.  I'm working with a new MBP (OS 10.7.4) so I can't install Logic 8 from that disc (PPC installer), and the old Emagic dongle doesn't help.

Has anyone figured out how to get around this?

Any clues for how to manage the install other than re-purchasing Logic 9 in the App Store welcome.

    Hi

According to this, all you need is the original v8 serial number:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4384

"The previous version you're upgrading from does not need to be installed when installing the Logic Studio (2009) upgrade. All that is required is the previous version's serial number, or the XSKey if upgrading from Logic Pro, Logic Gold, or Logic Audio. (The XSKey plugs into a USB port and was used to authorize Logic Pro and Gold versions 5, 6, 7, and Logic Audio 5.)"

Are you sure you are entering the correct serials?

    Thanks for the effort, CCTM.

I'm pretty confident the serial code I'm entering is identical to the one on the booklet that came in the box -which I also used for installing on my previous MBP.  I've repeatedly entered and checked that code to no avail.  I tested by entering variations of the code and they are immediately rejected.

I've run the installer with my XSKey plugged in with no change in the installer's behavior.

To be clear, the installer hangs with a Spinning Beach-ball of Death at the point of clicking to proceed from the serial entry form when the code has been entered.  As such, there is no opportunity to enter the  Logic Pro 8 serial code.  (Although I did try entering that code in the serial entry form only to have it summarily rejected.)

I'm open to trying some permutation that I might not have thought of.  Apple's instructions and net searches have proven useless so far.

    Hi

Is this a clean install or a migration?

Might be worth a call to AppleCare?

    Retro Thanks CCTM!

I found the solution in your old response to "How do i uninstall logic pro".

I did migrate my user data from a Time Machine backup which confused the installer (poor programming if you ask this old programmer.)

    Removing

         Library/Application Support/ProApps/ProAppsSystemID

    and

         Library/Application Support/ProApps/Logic Studio System ID

    cleared up the problem.

Thanks again for your time traveling help.
