Safari & WebM
Is there any way to wach Youtube videos in Safari without Adobe Flash (which I do not prefer)?
why Safari doesn't support WebM?
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
Ask WebM. They have chosen to not make it Safari compatible.
Install the ClickToPlugin Safari extension and set it to prefer HTML5 video.
WebM is not supported by Safari because Apple doesn't want. It's nothing related to WebM
Well that's mainly subject to apple's policy. there are a few possible reasons.

one of that reasons is that each side tries to push it's standards as web standards for varius reasons. But in the end of the day, only apple decided to not provide webM support probably for market control reasons because to produce and host H.264 video (apple supports that codec) you have to pay royalty fees.
The codec is there, Apple simply has diferent plans for her customers..One of the main Apples principles is pay for everything.
as well as "Apple owns patents around H.264 and benefits from the licensing fees that allow its use (so does Microsoft, and many other companies)."
Install http://perian.org/
I have installed perian 1.3.2 and cannot view WebM videos. There is a web site which has mp4s and WebMs so I can only watch have the videos when using either Safari or Chromium. I think IE on Windows can view both.
There has to be some missing step for viewing WebMs on Safari.
