Q: iOS 5.1.1 upgrade: hot while usage and battery drain

Since iOS 5.0.1 I never had. Artery problem. I used my iPhone from 12.2011 without any battery issues. But after recent upgrade to 5.1.1 I found that while using usual apps, including very simple like card game, my iPhone became very, uncomfortable hot near sim slot location. I was tried to reinstall sim card several times - no effect. Battery drain now terrible in active mode, about 1 percent per one or couple of minutes.

In a sleeping mode all the same - less than 0.5% per hour, but if to start using any application, device became hot and drain starting.

Any similar thigs or ideas? I read a discussion when two recharge cycles solved this problem, but it doesn't help me.

    Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.

    Have you tried ALL the troubleshooting steps?  If you have and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and possible exchange.

    This is not caused by 5.1.1 update. nothing like that would cause your phone to get "hot"

    No. Because why I need to do full restore and all other dancing if my iPhone worked well BEFORE but start to drain AFTER? If I had Samsung with Android, I would, but I think I have much more intelligent device.

    Well, then go get a Samsung or Android.  No one here really cares what you do.  Meantime, if you want your phone to work again, you'll need to do the recommended troubleshooting steps.  Or do nothing.  Again, no one here really cares what you do.

    It's luck that you are nobody here and not represent of official way of Apple's business. I do not want "my phone t owork again", I just want to do nothing, if you understand what I mean.

    here is a general description of the batteries. it is expected that sometimes the product will get warm, especially when charging. Another thing to look at is multi-tasking which could be the result of some battery drainage, bluetooth running in the backround, a high brightness setting, wi-fi ALWAYS enabled even when outside of a wi-fi zone especially because it will be constantly searching for networks.     Worst comes to worst, try transfering all of your information to the computer, and try a restore as new, than transfer your information back to the iphone in the event it could be a software issue. here are some helpful articles to help you with this.

    I'll read it tomorrow when I'll be in a better... condition.

    But so far I can't understand why the device which works fine YESTERDAY today need to be restored, rebooted, reloaded, renovated...

    My blame is that I only click "upgrade the OS, and you'll be happy more than now!".

    this is definitely an ios 5.1.1 issue...happened to me on my old phone immediately after upgrading (iphone 4s) which the apple guy replaced...and is now happening on my brand new iphone 4s, which i set up as a new phone.

     

    seems to have something to do with location services and/or exchange?

     

    any ideas?

    Try to reinstall/clean/replace your SIM, did you? In my case this was a reason.
