As you forgot to say what Mac you use and what version of OS X, this information should cover all eventualities:

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl ash

You can check here what version of Flash player you actually have installed: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html

You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25, 10.3.x beta, or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.0.1.152 is for Lion.

* Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, contributor Texas Mac Man suggests the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the latest version:)

Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

Hi Klaus

I tried your FPforFBPPC plugin on my PPC G4 PB, and so far so good. On the ITV Player site (which requires Flash 10.2) I no longer get the error message saying I need Flash 10.2. I can click a programme, but unfortunately, although the thumbnail says "PLAYING", the main video window is black. No video, no sound.

What am I doing wrong, or is it a limitation of your solution?

I also have problems with ITV Player as well as Channel 4 OD. I fear that must buy new computers!

BBC iPlayer works with TenFourFoxG5.

I've never had a problem with BBC iPlayer in any browser (it doesn't need Flash), nor with YouTube which doesn't require the latest version. However, your download lets me view YT videos directly in Facebook. 🙂 I rarely use ITV Player, but I wanted to catch up on the first episode of 56 Up which I unaccountably missed. It seems I cannot now watch it 😟 I've also had to give up on 4OD.

I wonder why the download can successfully "fool" Facebook, but not ITV Player? Actually, sorry - it DOES fool ITV Player, but won't actually play the videos. I guess what FB does is perform a simple check which isn't in YouTube, which is why your trick works well in FB? ITV and C4 must put code in their players that relies on something in Flash 10.2 that physically isn't in 10.1?

following the instructions, there was no live download link for version 10

deleting the version 9 I had, I downloaded the 9, install was successful but it is not working

because a) I get a blank when checking the version I have and b) when clicking on some sites, it reads, " plugin missing..... and when I try to reinstall the message reads, "devices w/Power PC processors are no longer supported"

Is there any way you can walk me through this, I would be glad to compensate your time with Pay Pal
