I have about 25 old emails that refuse to delete.
I can hit delete or drag to trash, nothing works.
Sometimes they will go grayed for awhile and then back they come but they never leave. help! I hate a cluttered email inbox.
I have a Power Book g4.
In mail, highlight the mailbox on the left that has the email that won't delete, click mailbox on the menu bar, then rebuild. That should get rid of the deleted mail.

I recently got this greyed out non-delete email problem, out of the blue. I read the postings and was about to 'rebuild' my Inbox, but I thought I would just try 'erase deleted items' from all accounts.
Bingo, the greys went away and items delete normally for now.
