Not all networks seen

I have an iPhone 4S. I just installed a new Network using a Netgear router. The router offers to recognized networks, one working at 2.4 GHz and the other at 5 GHz. My laptop and iPad recognize both networks, but my iPhone only sees the 2.4 GHz network. Is this iPhone model (the latest model) unable to see a network at 5G? I would think not, but it simply doesn't show and doesn't allow me to add it manually.
