Crackling sound during playback on Logic, how do I get rid of this?

I have about 6 channels and they are all Ultrabeat, so I don't play back through one specific UB window.

I just leave the UB sequencers switched on (I haven't drag and dropped them into the arrange window yet) then play them all back.

I'm pretty sure that its not the headphones, as this crackling/popping sound happens when its played through speakers as well!

It's not coming from any drum samples either, It only starts during playback.

Very annoying.. 😮

Odds are it is coming from one of those hippie/hoppie vinylcrackly drum samplies.

Jake, why are you so sure it isn't?

When you set the buffer to 1024, is there still crackling? If so, it would make it even more likely that you are in fact hearing sampled vinyl.

Have you tried muting your six channels one at a time? When did the crackling disappear?

Also: have you checked that you didn't stack up 6 basedrums on the same beat? I wouldn't be surprised if the crackling you heard is just the output, clipping.

Might give us a little more info on your hardware, Mac pro, Mac Book, Macbook_Pro... how much RAM, which version of OSX? Snow Leopard, Lion + version number....etc.

I just tried 6 instances of Ultrabeat without crackling, using stock samples.

This statement is confusing...

"It's not coming from any drum samples either, It only starts during playback."

So when just the Ultrabeat's are playing and the sequencer is not running there's no noise but when Logic controls their start/stop and the sequencer is playing there is crackle?

Computer Model - MacBookPro7,1

Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo - 2.4GHz

Amount of RAM - 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3

OS version in use - version 10.6.8

Logic Version in use - 9.1.7

Is this alright? 🙂

And sorry, I could have explained that a lot better. I haven't actually dragged what I've done in Ultrabeat over to the arrange window... its completely empty. All the channels are UB though, so instead of pressing play on all of the sequencers... I leave them switched on, and use the big play button in the bottom left 😀

I haven't actually tried pressing play on all of the UB channels, because I'll stop using UB eventually.

I have tried muting different channels though, and I'm pretty sure I know where the crackles coming from. Its hard to find though, because the crackle noise doesn't happen in the same places every time... it just pops up every so often. So I've solo'd that channel, but I'm not sure what to do from here?

I've played the sound individually hundreds of times, and nothing happens. Yet when I play it back.. it crackles every so often. And when it starts it sometimes doesn't stop for quite a while!

I've been through all of the samples and messed around with them within UB, and none of them have this crackle sound untill they are put together 🙂

And Yep, I have tried muting them... and I'm pretty sure I know where it's coming from now, but I'm not sure what to do about it!

I haven't stacked up anything yet either, and for putting my buffer size up.. it doesn't seem to be making a difference.
