The Windows support software is not available

This is message I keep getting as I'm trying to instal Bootcamp.

I've tried a few alternatievs to it (Wine, VirtualBox) and none have worked either.

I've got Windows XP, but haven't got that far to install it.

Any ideas on the Bootcamp issue?

Then learn how to separate out who is running what.

you need lion 10.7.3+ to use the latest and/or to download support sofware.

Lion will not support XP (I wouldn't either, it is old, full of holes, EOL and no security support or updates) and does not work on Macs shipped in the last 18 months or more.

XP support was part of 10.5.x

Windows 7 support came with 10.6.2

There are instructions and manual for Lion and for Snow Leopard:

Is that really as rude as you meant it to sound?

I only want to run Windows to play games, and I don't want Lion as it isn't supported by my Tascam AD device and doesn't offer me any benefits.

Thanks for the clarification. Looks like I'll have to forgo Bootcamp then and try a VM wrap kind of type thing.

VM works but so does a Boot Camp installation. Boot Camp is better for resource intensive games. There is no download of Windows Support Software for Snow Leopard. The support/driver software is on your Snow Leopard install disk. Read the Boot Camp Installation Guide http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/Boot_Camp_Install-Setup_10.6.pdf

And whoever told you it is not good to use the drivers from your Leapard install disk is wrong.

Agreed.

Unless someone can post specifics that work, there is no solution for Boot Camp 4.0.1 or higher / Lion other than downloading the Windows Support Software which currently does not work regardless of proxy settings. Effectively Boot Camp isn't an available option right now as Windows Support Software ver. 3.3 does not provide full integration. In lieu of any technical information, my guess is that Boot Camp 4.x may not be supported on all hardware. Or it's the recent eclipse. Either way I'm dead in the water.

Why did you hijack TreRogue's thread? You said you have the same issue but you don't. TresRogue is running Snow Leopard, you are talking about Lion. The support software/drivers being discussed for Snow leopard are on the Snow Leopard installation disk. The support/driver software for Lion is downloaded.

You should start your own thread to discuss your Lion issue. Or, search these forums. Your issue has been discussed many times.

You are managing to do everything wrong while complaining about the manner that the correct method is being offered to you.

The software you need is on the OSX installation disc that accompanied your Mac, it is all that you need so use it.

The Windows support software is not available
