You need to make sure that MultiSampling stays at 1x, FullScreen Glow and Vertical Sync are OFF. And terrain distance is at around 50%. You may want to turn other features off, but you just have to experiment to see what works best with your particular setup.
I just got WoW loaded up and running on my new Imac 20in 2gb ram 256mb vram. and really no issues at all yet. Runs very well at just about max settings but for sure make sure multisampling is 1x like Salvadar said.
I have the 17" core duo with only 512MB of Ram with over half of the video settings maxed out with 1x multisample and it runs phenomenally well. Way better than my eMac 1.25GHz with 768MB RAM. I look forward to upgrading to 1GB soon for even smoother performance.
I've only used a couple WoW add-ons so far, no problems for me on my Intel iMac. I just dropped the addon folder into the folder where the addons are supposed to go and away they went.
