Mac Mail deleting IMAP emails after 2 weeks?

I have three godaddy webmail accounts. All are setup as IMAP accounts.

I have an imac running 10.6, an ipad2 fully updated and an iphone 4 fully updated.

Mac Mail on one of these devices (I am guessing it's the imac) is deleting all messages (in inbox, sent, deleted, all boxes) after 2 weeks! This is very very very frustrating and it is going to destroy my business as I am trying to find emails from our manufacturer in China and can't go back past 2 weeks!

Godaddy claims one of our devices is deleting the emails. They are even disappearing from the server, so if I login to the webmail online, they are even gone from there! This is not good and I have done dozens of searches for help and cannot get a clear answer as to what is happening.

This happened a month ago and I was able to have godaddy recover all the lost emails and reload them. The other day they were all still in my inbox and then this morning they were all gone after 2 weeks ago!

If anyone can help please offer some advice, thanks!

The problem is, there is NO option to remove the message from the server in the advanced setting...

The only thing I have changed now, is that the box in mailbox behaviors WAS checked to move deleted messages to thw trash folder, but the problem is that I wasn't deleting them, they were just disappearing! I changed this setting, maybe it will fix it?

Thanks

There's an option in Go Daddy's Web-based Email client to "Auto Purge". Though it's not activated by default, you should check it. Have you already looked at it?

To assign or change the Auto Purge settings, open up the Web-based Email client, right-click on the relevant folder (in your case, the Inbox), and select the "Auto Purge" option. A small window should open allowing you to set several different intervals between "Never" and "Older than 365 days". Note that when you open this window, the option that displays is the current setting - so if you open it and it's set to "Never", the autopurge was not active. There's another visual indicator that Auto Purge is active as well - there will be a check next to the Auto Purge option if it's set to anything other than "Never".

Be sure to let us know if this solved the problem for you.

I have a related issue. Try as I might with my IMAP accounts on GoDaddy, I have been unable to experience the functionality I have expected from having IMAP email.

I use Apple Mail on MacBook Pro laptop and on my iPad for my IMAP email. When I delete emails in my inbox on one of The devices that action is not mirrored on the other device. The second devise shows that the email has been read.... But the email does not become deleted.

I have read on other forums that in fact this is a glitch on GoDaddy's end.

I have one IMAP email account with Host Gator, and it functions just as I expect it should on my two devices.

Can anyone comment? Thanks!

Coach Fletch,

Your email account may be out of sync. This is something our Support team can resolve if you ask them to review it. If that is not the problem, they can try to assist you with additional troubleshooting.

Please login to your Go Daddy account and submit a support request here: http://x.co/kVrE - don't forget to include a full explanation of the situation and the affected email address(es).

Thank you,

Alon

I have been experiencing the EXACT same problem as Coach Fletch, and was relieved to discover I am not alone in my frustration.

I use a Mac (Lion 10.7.4 with Apple Mail v 5.2 (1278)), an iPhone and iPad (OS 5.1.1). My GoDaddy IMAP account used to work correctly. Other IMAP accounts still do work correctly. However, in one of my GoDaddy accounts, emails now deleted on one device are no longer deleted from other devices. This causes me to have to manually delete them on each device. (So why pay extra for an IMAP account?)

Additionally, about 40% of deleted emails actually end up reappearing in the inbox of the same device on which I had already deleted them! So, I end up deleting the same emails several times on several devices.

This thread gave me some optimism that GoDaddy could do something to cure the issue. But that optimism only lasted about 10 minutes...until I received my response from support (Incident #15490481). They sent me canned instructions on how to set up an IMAP account (instructions for a much older version of my OS, I might add). AND they suggested that I "can always use web-based email to send and receive messages"!!! Are you kidding? Lots of help.

I do have the same problem with Mac Mail using a Host Papa account...

It happens since I swithc to Lion I would say. Never happen before with Snow Leopard.

Can't find a way to tell Mac Mail to not errase e-mails after 2 weeks... Same on Host Papa... I don't undestand what is going on.

Alos, I have the same problem as many users... even if I don't read them, my e-mails arrive in Mac Mail as read already.

Realy confusing. And my e-mails are my main tool for work!

If anyone has any idea of what is going on?

I have checked this setting in GoDaddy webmail half a dozen times, all the boxes in my account say "NEVER" for auto-purge.

Again, there is NO OPTION in mac mail to delete emails after one week.

A solution for this problem would be great as I am losing emails after 8 days and I cannot find emails to reply to people or even lookup invoices that were emailed to me for my business. Client info that is forwarded to me is gone and I have to ask them to resend it. ANNOYING!

Please help!

Thanks!

So lets make this even stranger; I have an old G4 powerbook at home that I use just for surfing and FB, ALL of my emails are on it! ALL OF THEM! I can search back for months and months! I come to my business where my new Imac is and I only have emails going back 8 freaking days! How is this possible?!

I am not entirely sure who to blame, mac software (which is normally flawless) or GoDaddy???
