lllaass, once registered to your Apple ID any attempts to register it using a different Apple ID should result in the following:

I suppose that it is possible Apple can un-register it without your consent, but I would imagine they would want conclusive proof that whomever wants to register it is entitled to do so. I wouldn't even know what sort of proof they would consider adequate; certainly if it's stolen there can't be any.

im having the same problem too, my ipod was stolen and i really want it back, i cant track it down using icloud because wifi connection is off. i was hoping if i could find it using the serial number, the person who stole my ipod obviously can't change the serial number, if he or she registers it then is there any way to find my ipod using the serial number?

Hi, new to this community. I would love to start an app or site of serial numbers for stolen items (maybe there is one,let me know), as you know you get an email when the device is registered, should get one when it is de-registered and then if another user tries to register it you be alerted, it could all be self supported seems. The message you get when you try to register could be more detailed, as "this device is registered to another user". My daughters ipod touch was stolen at a soccer tournament this past weekend and like other users we have gone through the motions of locating to no avail. The ipod is/was locked, but it appears there are ways around this that are clearly posted. However the serial number is the serial number - you need if for support, you should be able to enter your item as lost or stolen like your credit card. I would rather have the item in the trash than a thief in possession of it. Thanks for listening! 😁
