Hi f,

Do you have only the original Apple supplied RAM installed? If not, install it and see if it stops the panics. Your machine info shows 10.5.7. Run Software Update to install all current updates including 10.5.8.

Hi TJ

Only original Apple Ram installed

I installed ( archive and install) last night from the original discs and ran software update

Any changes after this?

Also run Verify Disk from Disk Utility.

Have you tried running Apple Hardware Test? If not, give that a try.

If no luck with any of the above, it may be time for an appointment at an Apple Store "genius" bar.

I ran repair disc from disc utility and also the extended hardware text but problems still occurs. No genius bar in southern Ireland :-/

I am looking at the machine now ( writing on my wifes macbook) and it started up fine after repair disc ( no repairs needed) and when I scroll on trackpad it seems to have activated a strobe like screen flashing and freeze.

My question is there anything showing up in the posted log to suggest core of my problem?

Nothing stands out to me.

The video acting up suggests you may have the NVIDIA issue. First, go to System Profiler > Hardware > Graphics/Displays and see if you have the GeForce 8600M GT GPU. This is the GPU covered under the free repair program. While there, also look at PCIe Lane Width. If it says anything other than x16, the GPU has issues (but this is only one potential symptom). If you have the 8600 GPU, bring the MBP to an Apple Store or AASP for free testing. If Apple's free test confirms the issue, repair is free. Read all about it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377

I think you could have hit on it there TJ

My System profiler info :

Chipset model : GeForce 8600M GT

PCle lane width : X16

Vendor : NVIDIA (0x10de)

I remember that weeks after I bought this machine in summer 2008, I encountered that screen distortion and scroll problem. I will take it in for repair and revert. Thanks
