Canon 50D and IMac

Hi,

I have a problem with my canon 50D. Before I could just connect the camera with a usb cable and it would open up iphoto and I could easily download the pictures in the cf card. Now I can't anymore..what's wrong? Is that because I have got RAW photos in there? Or because the card is almost full? I have run all the updates i think..I have also tried with different cables and with different devices..it just won't recognize anything anymore! Help please!

ps I don't have the cd to install the canon software.

You said this was working and then stopped working, correct? If so it's not likely that firmware is causing this. While updating the camera firmware is important I don't think that is the cause of the problem here.

Do you have another card to try? Another cable? Another USB port?

With the camera connected and powered on open System Information, either through Spotlight or go to the Utilities folder and start it from there or else do Apple Menu->About this Mac; More Info; System Report. You'll get the system information window. In the left hand column under Hardware select USB, you'll see something like:

Notice the entry above for Canon Digital Camera. If you're camera doesn't show here then it's definitely a cable, camera or USB port (or hub) problem
