Aperture 3.2.3 (managed) library, masters offline?

Hi,

I created my first vault a couple of weeks ago, to back up my photos prior a clean OS re-install.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Aperture and re created my library using the vault...

Now I realize that I cannot edit any of my photos becase apparently they are offline (according to what the software says).

How can it be? I can see all my images, i can see the masters NEF and the jpgs...

I have checked lots of different posts but with no luck.

My masters folder in the aperture library is empty but my library file is more than 7Gb big.

My library is kept in my picture folder and my vault on an external drive.

My OS and my Aperture software are up to date.

Thank you in advance for your help, how do I contact Apple about this issue?

PS I don't mind to pay for it but in the website I only found telephone numbers for hardware support..

Cristi@,,Is your Aperture Library referenced?

A vault only backs up the Aperture Library ans managed masters; if your masters are referenced, they are not included in a vault backup, and this woud explain the empty masters folder in your Aperture library.

If you can see your master image files in the Finder - no problem. You need to reconnect your master image files to their versions in the Aperture library.

To do this, seect one of the images with "masters offline", then select "File > Locate Referenced Files" from the Aperture main menu bar.

This will lauch a window with two parts:

  1. In the upper part you select a version that needs reconnecting to the master image file.
  2. In the lower part you see a file chooser: navigate to the master image file of he version you selected in the upper part.

Now the "reconnect" buttons should become active. Press the "reconnect all" butoon.

Thank you leo..

My library is managed.

I can't see my master in finder, i can see the actual photos in Aperture, and the tipe of file is NEF which should mean that they are the masters.

When I try to do what you are saying I get this "The selection doesn’t have any referenced files."

For some reason it doesn't work.

I wonder if I have to try and reinstall Aperture...
