I've seen many cases like yours in the forums... Is it a defective serie?

Try putting it in DFU mode: when connected to PC with iTunes, press Power button for 3s. , then Power +Home for 10s. , and Home for 8s. . If the iPod isn't completely dead, it should appear in iTunes saying "An iPod in recovery mode has been detected". Try also charging it - maybe it's only your battery that is completely dead? Leave it for 30 minutes plugged in.

Hope that helped.

I have had this problem and have helped some of my friends with it. What you want to do is hold down the power and home button down for about 10 second the release them both. After you've done that, you just hold down the power button until you see you iPod turn on. It should work the first time you do it. If not try it again. I hope this helps.
