Yes. That's what the "Favorites" are for.

There's an app called "Dial Images" which is faster than using "Favourites". You can use it for the 9 numbers you use most often. I find it most useful.

You must not be familiar with s p e e d d i a l it was an antiquated way of pressing one button and calling immediately the number saved for that button. It may be antiquated but it really worked.

The only problem is that my iPhone is not really a phone. There should be a speed dial pad on the lock screen so you can touch one icon and be calling immediately, not having to wait for siri to think, or having to hunt around for favorites under "phone", or having to type in a passcode before doing any of this (for those of us who have valuable info on our phones).

It's called a "lock screen" for a reason - functions are locked so they don't get accidentally activated when picking up the phone or touching it in a bag or pocket. Or to prevent a thief from running up a nice big phone bill for you.

I've found that it's quite easy to make calls from the lock screen: I use Siri.

You can hold down the home button and tell your phone who to call, pretty efficient and quick if you ask me...
