First off, please turn off your iPod, to start with (you do NOT want to short out the iPod's curcuit).

Then Take your iPod, and carefully wipe off the outside parts of it, especially around the bottom and home button.

Place your iPod upright, bottom-side facing the ground, on a dry surface, and dim lit room; do not use sunlight or a fan to aid in drying it out.

Leave it there for 3-4 days.

After that, connect your iPod to your computer; let it charge for an hour. After that, restore it to factory settings then restore to a back up

iPods that have hard drives oftentimes do not have a very good chance at surviving a water-drenching experience like this.
