iTunes won't recognise my iPod Nano 6th Generation. Please Help?

Today I tried syncing some new songs to my iPod Nano 6th Generation, but it wouldn't even be recognised by iTunes. This has only happened today, as yesterday it was syncing just fine. I have followed the online troubleshooters, doing exactly as they said and I have tested every USB port on my laptop and with each one of them it didn't work. When I plug the USB cable in however, it makes the sound it usually does, it just doesn't show on My Computer or iTunes. I went onto my Devices and Printers and my iPod hasn't shown up there, however there is an unspecified device. It says 'Apple Mobile Device USB Driver'. It says that it needs trouble-shooting, which I did, but that couldn't identify the problem. I clicked on 'view detailed information', where it says that there is a problem with PnP devices. Could someone please tell me what this means and how I can fix it? Thanks.

Open up device manager with the iPod connected and try and remove/re-install the iPod's drivers.

To open up Device Manager, click the Start Menu, right->click on Computer and choose Manage. When the window comes up select Device Manager in the left hand pane.

Look for your iPod under the list of devices. It may be listed as unknown. Right->click on it either way. What do you see for options?

It should be under USB controllers, but if there is a driver conflict, it could show up anywhere. So you don't see appear in any subcategory in Device manager after you plug it in?

Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port? Does it charge still when you plug it in? I assume you have tried different USB ports and a different sync cable, preferably an Apple branded one?

Hey, first off, i'd like to say i'm not extremely technical - but i'll try and keep up. i'm having more or less the same problem as JasperMack, only, iTunes is recognizing it as my brother's iPod - Not mine. I've searched through the device manager and i got nothing that will recognize it there. My iPod DOES however charge, it almost takes on the roll of my brother's - only problem is when i got to sync it, it says "no device avalible" or whatever. I got this iPod 2nd-Hand (probably a bad idea) and i have no idea what to do. This is the 1st time i've attempted to to plug it into my computer and it's already taking a flying leap into hte zone of "not working" 😝 anything???
