Q: I have an iPhone with a data plan through AT&T.  I just got an iPad.  Do I need to set up a separate data plan, or can I use my iPad under the plan I have set up for my iPhone?

I just got an iPad, and am trying to figure out how to get it going.  I have an iPhone with a data plan through AT&T.  Do I need to set up a separate account for the iPad, or can I use it under my existing data plan?

Ask ATT. My guess is you can share data plans with other devices, but only ATT can tell you the answer as well as what you need to do on the iPad.

You need a completely different data plan for your iPad which you set up on the device itself and it is billed to a credit/debit card. You cannot share other plans and the iPad account will not appear on your iPhone or any other AT&T account.
