Transfer of info.

I'm about to upgrade from I Pad 1 to I Pad 3.

Is it simply a case of transferring my Sim card to the new I Pad and all my previous information, settings and apps I'll automatically transfer to I Pad 3?

Pretty much. Do a sync to back up your data, pop the SIM and transfer it to the new iPad. Then plug the new one in and restore from the backup. Don't forget to wipe "All Settings and Content" from the old one if you are disposing of it.
