iCloud on Android 4.0.4 using default email client

I have my iCloud email working on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus after an hour of stuffing around with settings. In an attempt to help others avoid the angst, here are the settings that are working on my phone.

INCOMING MAIL

Username: just the part before the @ symbol (eg. don't put the me.com part in)

Password: as it would be on any other device ;-)

IMAP server: imap.mail.me.com

Port: 993

Security type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)

OUTGOING MAIL

SMTP server: smtp.mail.me.com

Port: 587

Security type: STARTTLS (accept all certificates)

Yes (ticked) Require sign-in.

Username: your full email address (eg. XXXXX@me.com)

Password: as it would be on any other device ;-)

Sure hope this works for you and saves you the angst I had to get the bl***y thing working!!

Did they change those server names recently?

People who migrated from MobileMe but are not using Lion have found that the MobileMe email server settings continue to work for a time, but then eventually stop. The iCloud server settings are different (Lion sets Mail up automaticallly) and have to be entered manually on older Mac systems or Android - they are as the OP has posted.

Hi,

Im a long term iphone user with a MM/icloud account. Ive just this minute started to set up my new galaxy s3 and id bookedmarked this post to set up my mail. I went to add a new account for my MM email, which seemd to go well, then i thought id have to find the "adjust account seetings" place to do the above tweeks. Low and behold my inbox was already working!

All i put in my usual email/passwor into a new accout set up and it works! I think my S3 should be runng ice cream sandwich (i think, its new phone with vodaphone in Australia).

Many helpful hints here, though with ICS on my Razr Maxx, none went the distance. Here are some additional settings that finally made it happen, working from astorixx's (Trev's) post above:

Incoming server is indeed: imap.mail.me.com

Do not use @mac.com or @me.com after username

Port is indeed 993

Definitely select SSL/TLS and accept all certificates

Now here's the zinger: Authentication should be LOGIN

After figuring this out, I finally (after many hours of searching and testing) got to my outgoing server settings, which are:

smtp.me.com

port 587

NONE for security type

Tic "Require Sign-in"

Authentication is PLAIN

Username again without @me.com or @mac.com

What a royal pain in the arse! Yet now it works like a charm and I'm lovin' the Razr!

Good luck, all!
