Netstats moron...

Hi,

I have been having trouble with internet connections for about 2 weeks... I have a Mac Pro connected via ethernet and a laptop and 2 iphones connected intermittently via wi-fi.

The internet DL speed is around 3MB at best - at worst around 0.5MB.

I contacted my ISP and they asked me to look at Netstats. I listed all connections - there was a lot of info listed (although only about 4 or 4 were marked as ESTABLISHED.)

They told me there should be no more than 10 and that I probably had a virus.

I have run a virus scan and nothing was detected.

Can anyone give me any advice? Do I have a problem with my machine or is this the ISP passing the buck?!

BTW, I'm a bit of a moron when it comes to things that are TOO technical, so please use language I'm likely to undertsand!

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6), 2 X 2.8 GHz, 6GB RAM

The desktop (Ethernet cable) is running slow but has the best connection. The iPhones are OK over wi-fi when they're connected but connections are hit and miss. Laptop (wifi) is the worst - runs slow-ish when connected - but o ly connects in VERYA specific areas of the house. Is say 80% connected if you're perched on a shelf in the corner of the room, but other than that you'd be lucky to connect at all. (btw laptop is an early 2010 MacBook Pro)
