I am trying to view a powerpoint presentation with embeded video. When I click on the play video I get a message codec unavailable. Please help if you can I am using a macbook pro version 10.7.4 thanks

It has nothing to do with powerpoint. You must figure out what the embedded video is encoded with, and find a way to install that codec.
Perian is a helper app that helps quicktime play lots of formats, but I don't know if it will work for your problem.
If it is a wmv file, Flip4Mac might help.

I don't know. Ask the person that gave it to you?
If Perian or Flip4Mac can't decode it, then you'd have to ask the source.
If you can extract the video from powerpoint, VLC might be able to play it.
