iTunes and PC - a match made in h**l

Is there a way to do iTunes match from an external hard drive, instead of from an old PC, which clearly is never going to work? I've got bazillions of old songs and a PC laptop that desperately needs to be upgraded to Mac Book, but for the moment I just want my music in the iCloud. Anyone have some easy tips? Thanks!
