Q: This is all very well, but opening the cover to get the batteries out again is a complete nightmare.  I sometime resort to just dropping the thing until it falls apart! Is there something I've not realised?

You posted in the "Intel iMac" Forum.  Which batteries are you referring to?  In the mouse?

    Hope this helps

    Hello Puz,

I have a 10.6.8 i mac with the blue tooth mouse.  Assuming your mouse is similar, try this suggestion.

Just use a finger-nail to slide the little black latch DOWN towards the bottom of the mouse. (There is a little indentation near the latch to facilitate doing this)   The battery door should pop up slightly, then you should be able to lift it off.  It's possible you may have some binding or dirt preventing this from happening.   Funny thing -- when my grand kids drop the mouse on the floor, the battery door doesn't fly off. You must give it a pretty good whack.
