Q: iTunes song preview time is cutting off.

The same thing is happening. I am talking to ITunes support but no answer yet,. Would love any suggestions any one might have. This just started. It's not a new install but I did recently update to 10.6.

Lucky for you. Mines cuts off around 5-7 seconds. Uninstalled iTunes & installed a fresh one & problem still remains.

I'm having the same issue. In addition, when I purchase music, itunes skips over songs giving me a 'network time out' error message. I believe these are related but can't prove it 100%. I did try and disable the firewall and anti-virus program as well. I can connect to the web - no problem. Songs will play the full 1 plus minute preview while others skip after 3 seconds. Makes me think it's the network timeout issue. I've tried the following except actually uninstalling the anti-virus program on my PC but it didn't resolve the issue.

ipconfig /release

then

ipconfig /renew

restart computer

ipconfig /flushdns

totally shut down computer then restart.

netsh winsock reset all

restart computer

Now test your iTunes again. If that does not work, uninstall your Antivirus program and test again

I'm having the same problem.. songs cutting off around the 7 second mark.  If I click on the play bar a few seconds further down it will play another 7 seconds.. then cut off again.  Not a new install..  but upgraded to 10.6

Mine are getting off anywhere now between 3 and 11 seconds Support from ITunes sent the following which it sounds like

FAST -- did you do all the steps in this (including Windows update?) Not thinking it's going to work if you already tried it and don't have 2 hours to spare.

At this point, I recommend that you attempt to resolve this issue by uninstalling iTunes and then reinstall the latest version. To do this, first ensure that you are logged in to an Administrator user account on your computer, then follow the instructions in the appropriate article:

Unfortunately none of those suggestions work. And the comment regarding to do the ip release/removal of anti virus doesn't apply/work either as I tried it and do not even have a anti virus program currently installed.

Apple Support told me to try uninstalling and re-installing itunes but that didn't help others so I won't bother. It seems like it might be an issue with itunes 10.6.  Apple doesn't know what's wrong or how to fix this problem. I just bought an album with 78 songs and only 67 songs downloaded even though I was charged for the full album. As I stated earlier, I think the network time out issue is causing the problem with the 3 second preview, as well as incomplete downloads of albums. Let's keep this going until it's resolved.

Same problem here. About 3 seconds of preview then cuts out. Un- and re-installed iTunes but problem persists. No purchases for me until resolved.

I am having the same exact problem -- 5-7 second previews.

Has anyone contacted Apple about this? I am going back and forth with them and they seem totally unaware that this issue exists. It's been very difficult to even get them to completely understand what I going on. They think that the songs skip in the play list after downloading them. I've tried to explain that songs skip while previewing them before buying. Has anyone else experienced the "network timeout" message when trying to buy an album? I ask because I think these issues are related.

Same thing here as well.  Cuts off after 5-7 seconds.  I haven't been able to find a solution to this either.  I appreciate the testing that you all have done trying to fix it.

I just sent Apple Tech Support a link to this page so they can see that many of us are having this problem. If anyone does purchase an album, make sure that ALL the tracks downloaded.

I tried to resolve this on my own since Apple cannot figure it out and keeps blaming it on software like anti-virus.  Not sure if this will work for you, but so far songs are playing for the full length. Please try the following: 

1) Enable Genius in Itunes:  http://ipod.about.com/od/advanceditunesuse/ss/set_up_genius_2.htm

For your specific OS or router, just Google OPEN DNS SETTINGS FOR ___________

Let everyone know if this resolves the issue. So far no skips. Not sure which step fixed it since I did them both together.
